DeDe Dance Studio was
founded in 2004 by a young dancer,
Deara Okonkwo and her mother
Kendra Okonkwo. Since Deara was
nearly 18 months old and taking
Creative Movements at Sammy
Davis Jr., her mother promised that
she would build Deara a dance
studio before her 16th birthday.
Although an ambitious goal, Kendra
and Delores Allen (aunt of Deara)
made the dream come true on
Deara’s Super Sweet Sixteen
birthday.  On July 8, 2006, she
celebrated the Grand Opening of
DeDe Dance Studio. Prior to the
Grand Opening, however, Deara had
already conducted dance classes
and taught over 100 students,
stretching from toddlers to adults.
Today, Deara is an eighteen year old
graduate student University of
Southern California and still
conducts her classes for youth in
the community.
DeDe Dance Studio offers youth a safe environment
to express themselves in positive and creative ways.
While students learn how to move & groove, DeDe
Dance Studio helps them develop greater self-esteem,
communication skills, responsibility, and respect for their
peers. Essentially students partake in a substantial
maturation which is what sets DeDe Dance Studio apart
from others. Classes will resume January 10, 2009 from
10am or 12pm. If you, your child, or a friend may
benefit from such program, either come by and visit or

Philosophy: To provide financial and educational
services for underprivileged youth and empower them to
become the next generation's role models and leaders.

  • Students will not only work to become more
skilled in various of performing arts, but they will
learn to become positive role-models for youth in
    the community.

Mission:  DeDe Dance Studio provides students with a
safe environment, needed within the community, and
gives them opportunities in the performing arts domain
that they may have not otherwise obtained. DeDe Dance
Studio works to have participants strengthen their
assertiveness and open-mindedness to diversity of
cultures, people and most prominently dance forms.
Ultimately, dancers partake in a substantial maturation--
self-esteem, leadership and respect for peers--which is
what sets DeDe Dance Studio apart from others.
